The recruiters complain that they are “flooded” with resumes. For one position they receive hundreds of applications. How has the recruitment market changed in recent years specifically, in numbers and days spent for selecting candidates?
The difference between the last 5 years, labeled as years of crisis, and the period of euphoria that preceded is perhaps most visible in the labor market. And this can be seen both in the lower number of jobs vacant, but in the number of resumes received for a job. Of course, these aspects are interconnected, but the gap is even larger in the number of candidates.
Smartree made a comparison between the number of resumes for specific jobs in 2007 and the number of resumes in 2013. Thus, for a retail shop manager; was received 30 resumes in 2007. In 2013 there have been 500. Over 1600% difference.
Other interesting data:
The differences as percentages vary between 1200% and 2200%. The comparison was done for the same city, Bucharest, in the same online media – recruitment sites.
The issues that generated this situation are related to instability on the job, less jobs on the market and increasing access to Internet and also to the online recruitment in the recent years.
There is a frenzy of applications, resumes are sent without reading demands or by persons who do not know what they want, especially recent graduates without work experience. From 1,000 resumes received for a post, only 300 candidates are matched the profile, according to Smartree statistics.
