After the dissolution of work books, the seniority at work for a certain employer is proved by a seniority certificate. This document can be requested by the employee to the employers who had signed a labor contract. The employer shall issue this certificate within 15 days of the request, otherwise risk a fine between 300 and 1000 lei.
The employer’s obligation to issue a seniority certificate is provided by Article 34 of the Labor Code. If the employer, for objective reasons, can not issue this certificate, the employee may request it from the territorial labor inspectorate in the territory of which the employer operates.
