2016 was very good year for the labor market in Romania, especially in the private sector, where wages, bonuses and number of jobs has been growing, according to Smartree Workforce Index, an analyze conducted by Smartree, one of the Romanian leaders on the outsourcing HR processes market. Thus, compared with 2015, wages from the private sector increased by 9.35%, while bonuses grew with 19%.
The Smartree Workforce Index analysis says that last year the the number of employees went up by 7 percent, compared with 2015 and the employee Well-being increased by almost 6%.
“The increase in the employees number was due mainly to the opening of new work points in Romania by multinationals. Thus, fields such as IT, retail, outsourcing, HR, accounting and logistics were those with the highest increase in 2016. But also 2016 meant a big challenge for companies to find the necessary qualified personnel and also to keep the valuable employees,” said Adrian Stanciu, CEO Smartree.
According to him, the companies that had to increase the salaries according to the Smartree statistics, increased them by an average by 9.35 percent. On the other hand, taking into account the changing labor market, the employees needed other motivation instruments. Thus, the bonuses offered by companies increased last year by almost 19 percent.
“Besides the bonuses given to employees, generally according to their performance or with the occasion of some events (Christmas, Easter etc), the company adopted also other benefits systems to motivate the employees still in the recruiting and selection stage, “ said Stanciu.
This is why more and more employers try to adapt to the requests and needs of the employees, including by offering new facilities programs. Apart from meal vouchers or health insurance benefits that have already become classics and are considered as indispensable in the offer, employees can benefit from a number of other new benefits such as relaxation rooms and massage at the office, workshop (cooking workshops, wellness, fashion, etc.), subscriptions for some gyms, kindergartens inside the offices, library, budgets for certain social activities (theater, cinema, performances) and many others.
More annual leaves and more medical leaves
Smartree Workforce Index takes into account the situation of medical or annual leave that an employee has in a year, these two factors being very important in analyzing employees’ well-being.
Last year, the number of the annual leaves were higher by almost 16% compared to 2015. This shows once more the employers care for valuable staff and indicates that companies have hired more people and that employees may go on holiday without being affected the work of the department in which they are activating. Regarding sick leave, they were up by approx. 17%.
